GAROWE (SD) – A delegation from the United Nations led by Anita Kiki Gbeho, the deputy special representative of the secretary general for Somalia arrived in Garowe, the capital city of Puntland state of Somalia on Sunday.
The delegation received by the President today also included the EU Special Representative for Somalia Tiina Intelmann, the African Union Mission in Somalia Ambassador Francisco Madeira, his Deputy Fiona Lortan and Ibrahim Mohamed Abdi from IGAD.
Puntland president Said Abdullahi Deni received the delegation at Puntland presidential palace in Garowe.
Anita Kiki Gbeho, the deputy special representative of the secretary general for Somalia and President, discussed the latest developments in the country, emphasizing on the upcoming parliamentary elections, and how to address the remaining challenges ahead of the elections and the drought.
President Said Abdullahi Deni stated that the United Nations delegation discussed the completion of the upcoming parliamentary elections and how to overcome the remaining obstacles of the elections during their meeting.
The delegation received by the president of Puntland today also includes EU special representative to Somalia Tiina Intelmann, African Union Mission in Somalia’s Ambassador Francisco Madeira, his deputy Fiona Lortan and Ibrahim Mohamed Abdi.
