Garowe (SD) – Commander of the Puntland Presidency Guard Lieutenant Colonel Barkhad Abdullahi Yusuf, has abruptly announced his unexplained resignation yesterday.

In a brief statement to the office of the Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, the commander said he resigned as the Chief of the Presidential Guard army, although he did not elaborate on the reasons for his resignation.

“I Barkhad Col. Barkhad Abdullahi Yusuf, the Chief of the presidential Army of the Puntland State Government render my resignation as the Commander of the Puntland Presidency.” He said in the statement.

Lieutenant Colonel Barkhad Abdullahi Yusuf, was appointed Chief of the Puntland Presidential Guard on March 2, 2019, making him the fifth in that position for the past five years.
