Garowe (SD) – Puntland authorities released seven people arrested in connection with the March 29th roadside bomb killing Nugal’s Governor Abdisalam Hirsi Hassan Gujir in Garowe.

The detainees were previously arrested by security forces in Garowe IDP camps, were released following an investigation, while others involved in the case were convicted.

Koranic schools teachers, shopkeepers and other individuals were among those released, and there are other individuals whose judgments will be announced soon.

Hussein Haji Ibrahim, one of the traditional leaders who worked to secure the release of the IDP’s, said they had been cleared of the charges and had now returned to their homes.

More than 26 people have been arrested in connection with the Gujir killing, and investigations are expected to conclude in Puntland on terrorism charges before a military court.
