Puntland traditional leaders call for dialogue to end electoral dispute

Garowe (SD) – Puntland Traditional Leaders who met in Garowe called for an end to the controversy over the country’s election process.

The meeting comes days after the conclusion of Heritage Institute discussion in Garowe on ways to tackle some of Somalia’s political issues, including the upcoming elections.

King Burhan Muse, who spoke to the media after the conference, confirmed that the traditional leader met last night with the Presidents of Puntland and Jubaland, and discussed ways to resolve the dispute over electoral issues.

The King pointed out that the two regional state Presidents of Puntland and Jubaland have agreed to discuss the electoral dispute, in order to resolve the dispute over the conduct of the election.

He also called on the Heads of the Federal Government, State Governments and opposition Candidates to hold talks to end the political crisis in the country.

Puntland traditional leaders statement comes at a time of heightened tensions between government officials and a coalition of candidates, who are opposed to the electoral process.
