Puntland VP and Speaker oppose Election Dispute Resolution Committee

GAROWE (SD) -The Vice President of the Puntland government, Ahmed Elmi Karash, has opposed the Election Dispute Resolution Committee appointed by President Deni.

In a statement, Vice President Karash expressed his disagreement with the appointment of the committee tasked with resolving election disputes for the 2024 elections.

He emphasized that the committee’s composition does not adhere to established norms for managing elections. Additionally, he pointed out that some members of the committee are not impartial and may not be capable of conducting fair and transparent elections.

The Chairman of the Puntland Parliament also released a statement rejecting the Election Dispute Resolution Committee appointed by President Deni. The statement argues that the committee is not suitable for handling the upcoming elections and may not be accepted by all parties involved.

Several political figures and election stakeholders in Puntland have raised concerns about the fairness and inclusivity of the committee. The disagreement highlights the challenges and complexities surrounding the electoral process in the region.
