Garowe (SD) – Puntland Minister of Finance Hassan Shire Abgal today underlined that Somalis and foreign workers who refuse to pay taxes on their salaries will be brought to justice.

Minister Abgal said they have set up a modern tax collection system but there are still individuals who are deliberately refusing to pay taxes on their businesses and the salaries of their foreign workers.

The Puntland Minister of Finance said that the collected funds from businesses, houses, vehicles and foreign workers will be used to improve government services and development.

The minister said it was unfortunate that citizens who were educated with tax payers money are today refusing to pay taxes.

“It is a shame that people who are educated free with tax payers funds are not paying their taxes on their assets today. Anyone who refuses to do so must be punished,” said Puntland Minister of Finance Hassan Shire Abgal.
