Garowe – (SD) -The Puntland administration has accused Somaliland of causing tensions and insecurity among the local population in the city of Erigavo in the Sanaag region.
In a statement released by the Vice President of Puntland, Ahmed Karash, he criticized the Somaliland administration for deploying forces to Erigavo and engaging in activities that create unrest among the local population.
“Recently, we have observed that the Somaliland Administration is causing unrest and tensions among the local population in the city of Erigavo,” said Ahmed Karash.
The Vice President of Puntland called on the Somaliland administration to immediately withdraw its troops from Ceerigaabo and warned that if they do not do so, they will be held responsible for any consequences that may arise.
“We urge them to swiftly withdraw their troops who were sent to Southern Erigavo and who are causing distress to the local residents. If they ignore this advice, they will bear the responsibility,” Ahmed Karash added.
This statement from the Puntland administration comes at a time when there have been periodic clashes between the forces of Somaliland and Puntland in disputed areas of the Sanaag region, with both sides expressing their intent to control the Sool region.
