GAROWE (SD) -A meeting between the President of the Puntland Government, Said Abdullahi Deni, the Vice President of the Government, Ahmed Elmi Cisman Karaash, and the Speaker of the Puntland Parliament, Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril Awil, reached an agreement on the long-standing Puntland electoral dispute.

According to a statement from the presidency of Puntland, the leaders agreed that the Committee appointed by the President for the approval and resolution of disputes in the House of Representatives of the Puntland Government should be left as it is and that the 6th Parliament’s elections should follow the process of the 5th Parliament, whose term ends on December 31, 2023.

On the other hand, the President of the Puntland with the Vice President and the Chairman of the House of Representatives had a meeting tonight with the Approval and Dispute Resolution Committee of the House of Representatives of the Puntland Government.

The leaders urged the committee to perform their duties well, following the traditional procedures of selecting the 66 parliamentarians who will then elect the president and his deputy. The leaders expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to handle its responsibilities with diligence.
