PUNTLAND-The Deputy Chairman of the Puntland Electoral Commission(SEIT), Ainashe Yusuf Hussein, has today announced his resignation from the commission.

The Deputy stated that his resignation is for personal reasons, and has issued a formal resignation letter to the commission and to Somalia’s Prime Minister, the President of Puntland, and the Electoral Commission Committee.

Reports indicate that Ainashe Hussein resigned, because he is interested in running for the parliamentary seat HOP220 which is currently held by Abdirashid Mohamud Hassan.

Sources also indicate that there are other members of the Somalia’s various elections committees are interested in parliamentary seats

His resignation announcement comes at the time when the Puntland Electoral Commission (FEIT) is currently working to holding elections of 16 seats in Bossaso.
