MOGADISHU (SD) – Qatar’s Ambassador to Somalia Hassan Bin Hamza spoke about the strong relationship between Qatar and Somalia and confirmed that Qatar is to provide military support to Somalia.
The ambassador told the Qatari news agency that the Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo visit to that country will further strengthen the two country’s relations.
The ambassador said that the Qatari Development Fund has repaired and built several government centers including the local government center and the diplomatic institute for Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Ministry.
The ambassador added that the Qatar Department of Defense supports the Somali armed forces in war with terrorists, giving them 68 armored vehicles.
The ambassador said war and natural disasters made the country in need of dire humanitarian assistance, adding that Qatari institutions and charities are participating in the humanitarian assistance.
Ambassador Hashem has pointed out that the Qatari government played an important role in mediating the diplomatic tensions between Somalia and Kenya, and the restoration of relations between the neighbours.
