Hargeisa (SD) – A Qatari government plane carrying donated medical supplies aimed to help with the country’s efforts in combating COVID-19 arrived today in Hargeisa, Somaliland.

The assistance, which has not yet been officially announced by the Somaliland health authorities, is expected to significantly contribute to the prevention and treatment of the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Somaliland and Qatari governments are not politically aligned, having president Muse Bihi Abdi previously accusing them of being enemy of Somaliland and the Qatari’s openly supporting the Mogadishu government, signaled perhaps a new beginning.

The donated medical supplies from Qatari government were expected to arrive in Somaliland couple of weeks ago in Hargeisa, there is no word as to why the aid was delayed.
