BELEDWEYN (SD)-Residents living along the banks of the Shabelle River have been warned about the river’s potential flooding in Beledweyne and surrounding districts in the Hiran region.
The Shabelle River has risen above dangerous levels and is approaching a critical point, posing a significant flood risk.
The warning specifically targets the towns of Beledweyne, Buulo Burte, Jalalaqsi, Jowhar, Balcad, and nearby areas.
Although there hasn’t been much rainfall recently in Somalia and eastern Ethiopia, water flowing from the Ethiopian highlands has caused the river’s level to rise.
Residents living near the river have been urged to remain vigilant and to distance themselves from the riverbanks to minimize the impact of potential flooding.
