MOGADISHU (SD)-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia held a telephone conversation with Josep Borrell, the Vice President of the European Union and the head of foreign affairs and security policy, as reported by Villa Somalia.

In a statement from the presidency, President Hassan emphasized the importance of preserving the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The President also expressed gratitude to the European Union for its continuous support for Somalia’s security and the joint efforts to eradicate terrorism, reaffirming the need to maintain regional stability and peace.

In a brief statement on social media, Josep Borrell confirmed that he assured President Hassan Sheikh of the EU’s ongoing support during Somalia’s security transition and related matters.

Borrell and President Hassan agreed to avoid regional tensions while combating terrorism and maintaining Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

President Hassan Sheikh is in Beijing, China’s capital, attending the China-Africa summit.
