BELEDWEYNE (SD) – At least three people were killed and several others after fierce fighting between Somali military backed by African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) and Al-Shabaab fighters in central Somalia.
Sources at the town said that Al-Shabaab fighters fired mortar shells at the Djibouti forces military base in Howl-wadaag area sparking a fight between the two sides.
Some of the shells landed in a home in the neighbourhood, killing three children from same family and injuring several others.
The local authorities have not commented on the attack the bases of Somali military and Amisom.
In a statement posted on al-Shabaab affiliate media, the militant group claimed killing several soldiers in the camps.
