-Somalia’s Chief of Defense Forces, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, and the Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin, held a meeting with the top leaders of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
During the meeting, the officials focused on the overall security of the country, particularly in the capital, Mogadishu. The discussions also addressed the security situation concerning the Al-Shabaab group, with plans to counter their recent activities.
The meeting also extensively discussed the role of ATMIS in enhancing the country’s security and the capital as a key center for maintaining high-level security. Additionally, there were talks about how AMISOM could contribute to the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab.
General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, the Commander of the Somali National Army, expressed appreciation for the role ATMIS played in stabilizing the country and safeguarding the citizens during the period they have been present in the country.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mohammed El-Amine Souef, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) and Head of ATMIS, as well as General Sam Okiding, the Force Commander of ATMIS.
