SNA forces eliminate 30 AS fighters in Lower Shabelle

MOGADISHU (SD) -Somali National Army (SNA) forces and local militias have successfully conducted operations against Al-Shabaab in the Lower Shabelle region, resulting in the elimination of nearly 30 Al-Shabaab members. The operation targeted several locations within the region, focusing on key Al-Shabaab camps.

Military officials confirmed that this mission was part of a broader strategy to liberate areas still under Al-Shabaab control. During the operation, the forces also destroyed significant Al-Shabaab bases used for planning and executing attacks. The assault was executed following crucial intelligence on Al-Shabaab’s movements in the area, enabling a preemptive strike.

In recent months, the Somali government has intensified its offensive against Al-Shabaab, with coordinated efforts between the national army and local militias known as “Ma’awisley” playing a crucial role.

These joint operations are ongoing in the regions of Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle, and Lower Shabelle, significantly diminishing Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities. The government forces are committed to eradicating Al-Shabaab’s presence in strategically important areas.
