Mogadishu May 07, 2023 (SD) – The Somali National Army and local forces stationed in Ceeldheer district of Galgaduud region have today conducted a major operation against the Al-Shabaab group.

The operation targeted areas in the Hul-caduur and Xalaneey regions near Ceeldheer district, and resulted in the capture of several Al-Shabaab commanders, according to state media

The military officials in Ceeldheer district reported that the operation was led by Colonel Shire Cabdi Maxamed, Ali Abgaaloow, and Maxamuud Calasoow, who have been tracking Al-Shabaab movements and vehicles for a long time.

Furthermore, the officials stated that they will continue to conduct operations against Al-Shabaab, and are determined to expel the group from the surrounding areas of Ceeldheer district.
