Kansas City (SD) – Two Somali-American boys have been shot dead in Kansas City last night, the victims led Tarawih prayers at Al-Taqwa Mosque in the city where they were imams.
According to report, the two boys, were walking out of the mosque, were shot dead by another their older brother as they were about to enter their home, and died on the spot.
“Officers and detectives on scene heard story after story about these promising young men who were leaders both in their community and at their mosque,” the department wrote. “It’s become clear that Kansas City has lost two rising stars, and we will do everything we can to seek justice for them.”
Somalis in Kansas City have reported that another 16-year-old Somali-American boy, who led Tarawih was killed by a white man during evening prayers at Al-Taqwa Mosque.
Al-Taqwa Mosque was closed tonight after the incident, and the bodies of the Somali nationals were taken from the scene of the killings, much to the shock of Somalis who heard about the killing.
In Kansas City, the mother and father of the two Somali boys were killed separately 10 years ago.
The two boys, who memorized the Qur’an aged 14 and 15, led the Tarawih prayers at Al-Taqwa Mosque.
