Istanbul (SD) – Bashe Hosh Jibril, one of the leaders of the Somali community in Canada, especially in Toronto, was reportedly killed by thieves in Istanbul, Turkey.
The deceased assisted newcomers to Canada and Somalis in general in immigration, legal, and resettlement matters.
Somalis in Toronto, Canada, describe Bashe as an important figure in the community and will sadly be missed.
Bashe Hosh Jibril was the younger brother of former Somali Constitution Minister Abdirahman Hosh Jibril who passed away on March 8, 2019 in the United Arab Emirates.
The governments of Turkey and Canada have not yet commented on the murder.
