ASMARA (SD) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding with his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki today in Asmara.
The memorandum covers political, diplomatic, economic, social, cultural, environmental, defense and security cooperation, according to Eritrean Information Minister Yemane G. Meskel.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s delegation flew from Eritrea and is expected to arrive in Mogadishu in the coming hours.
Hassan Sheikh, flew to Asmara on Saturday, met with Somali troops training in Eritrea for the last three years and oversaw development projects in that country, promising to bring them home as soon as possible.
