Mogadishu (SD) – Mohamed Abukar Jaffar, the governor of Daynile district in Banadir region gave details of fighting that took place today in the district.

The governor, who held a press conference at the scene of the fighting, said that government forces attacked civilians.

Governor Jaffar said the military attackers destroyed land occupied by civilians.

The governor said that the district forces, who also are part of the government forces, have responded to the attack, as he said, and they have successfully repelled the military land grab.

The exact cause of the fighting is not known, but some reports indicate that disputes over land have been tightened.

The situation is currently calm, but no official statements have yet been made for security officials.
