The EU in Somalia expresses concern over possible election delay

Mogadishu (SD) – The European Union’s Special Representative to Somalia Nicolas Berlanga has reacted to the delay of the National Election Commission going before the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

In a Twitter post, he expressed deep concern over the new time set for the National Election Commission.

Nicolas Berlanga, in his tweet, has questioned the possibility of a new election deadline for parliamentary elections.

The European Union’s statement comes at a time when the standing committees have decided that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (GMDQ) Halima Ismail (Halima Young) will appear in parliament on June 27 and report on the country election, when and how it will be.

The standing committees decision clearly violates Articles 13 and 53 of the Electoral Law.
