MOGADISHU (SD) – The Somali National Army (SNA) says it has killed seven Al-Shabaab militants and captured two others in an operation in the Middle Shabelle region.
The commander of the Somali National Army (SNA) Odawa Rage confirmed that the operation took place near War-Isse village in Middle Shabelle region, where the troops seized Al-Shabaab vehicles and equipment.
“The purpose of this operation was to prevent acts of terrorism against the Somali people,” Commander Odowa told local media.
Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the army commander’s claims of killing seven al-Shabaab members.
The operation comes at a time when Somalia has recently elected Hassan Mohamud as the country’s 10th president, vowing to resume operations targeting al-Shabaab.
