Somali government warns coastal community for possible toxic waste

Cadale Feb 27, 2023 (SD) -The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia has expressed concern about the recent sitting of suspected toxic waste in the coastal town of Cadale in the Middle Shabelle region of Hir-Shabelle.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia said that the waste has been accumulating in Cadale for a long time, with the potential to cause serious health problems for the local population, and also expressed concerns about the potential environmental damage.

The Ministry said that it has contacted the local administration in Cadale and has instructed them to immediately fence off the site to protect the health and well-being of the local community.

Finally, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia has instructed the residents to stay away from the barrels while checking the contents, to protect the health and safety of the Adale community.
