Mogadishu (SD) – Somali military forces have taken control of a main intersection in the capital, Mogadishu, near the headquarters of the Somali security ministry.
The Somali forces are reportedly closed the main road leading to the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
The troops are part of the 27th brigade and were operating in Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions and said they have left their bases due to lack of pay, and were told that Parliament heard that the Army had been paid.
Its not yet known if these forces are registered to receive salaries from the Somali Government or not
This comes at a time when Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has always claimed that his government has succeeded in paying salaries of all government employees including the security forces.
