Somali parliament approves new prime minister

Mogadishu (SD) – The members of the House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia have today unanimously approved the new Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble.

215 MPs voted in favor and no one abstained or objected the new PM Mohamed Hussein Roble.

Prior to the approval, Prime Minister Roble, in a brief speech to parliament, said he would build a capable government that would work on Security, Elections, Economic Development, Justice and the judiciary, Fighting corruption, Review of the country’s constitution and International Relations.

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, thanked the House of Representatives for approving the appointment of Mohamed Hussein Roble as the new Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia.

The President shared with the House of Representatives the reasons he nominated Prime Minister Roble and called on him to form a capable government that works to realize the aspirations of the Somali people.

“Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble is an educated, experienced and patriotic Somali citizen. He needs to form a capable government that can continue to implement the country’s priorities. ” said Farmajo.

Finally, Somalia’s new PM Mohamed Hussein Roble was sworn in by chairman of the Supreme Court, Mr. Bashi Yusuf Ahmed.
