Somali PM Allocates Covid-19 Funds to Member States

Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Ali Kheyre, has ordered to quickly provide funds to the federal member states and the Banadir regional administration for their prevention efforts against Covid-19.

Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre, who chairs the CoV-19 National Anti-Corruption Commission’s regular meeting today, has ordered the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the immediate transfer of one million dollars to the country’s authorities.

The Prime Minister underlined the importance of unity in this difficult time for the country, calling on the community to pool their efforts in combating the virus.

Health ministers from all the member states of the country and the governor of Banadir attending the meeting presented reports on COVID-19 updates and their regional needs. They Thanked the PM for the move.

No Word on whether Somaliland was art of the conversation or if they would receive the funding. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991, they are yet to gain world recognition.

Somalia is experiencing an uptick in Covid-19 cases in the country, especially in the capital Mogadishu were in recent days cases doubled through community spread.
