Somali Police says explosions were fake and not real threats

MOGADISHU (SD) – A press release from the Somali Police Force detailed explosions heard last night in Daaru Salaam district, Banadir region. The police clarified that the sounds were from fake explosives and not real threats.

The police assured the public and the media that there is no security threat in Mogadishu.

“The terrorist groups attempted to spread fear by placing fake explosives at a business center in Daaru Salaam district,” the police statement read.

Authorities confirmed that the explosives were dummy devices and did not cause any human or material damage.

The Somali Police urged the public to support security forces in maintaining peace and to be cautious of false reports meant to create panic.
