Somali president launches a Program Providing Funds to 1.3 million People

Mogadishu (SD) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo today launched a program called Bahnano, which provides financial assistance to poor families in the country.

According to the presidential statement, at first, the program will benefit 1.3 million Somali citizens in the country.

The Federal Government’s Bahnano Program to strengthen public services is being implemented in 21 districts in the country and their sub-districts, with a budget allocation of $ 4 million a month for those in need.


Although details were not provided, if the government’s 4 million dollar budget was distributed to 1.3 million people, it would only provide about $ 3 per month.

The President commended the Government for its efforts in following through its commitment to revitalizing basic public services and enhancing job opportunities, living standards and income for the country.

The program is part of the financial support to boost the livelihoods of farmers who have lost crops in some areas where crops have been harvested by the end of 2019.
