MOGADISHU (SD) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has signed the Somalia Labor Law, which was submitted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and previously approved by both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
This law is significant for ensuring workers’ rights and creating a fair work environment based on principles of equality and freedom for employees.
It also focuses on ensuring that Somali workers receive their rights in the workplace while safeguarding public interests and supporting the country’s economic development.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, H.E. Yusuf Mohamed Adan, expressed gratitude to the President for signing the labor law, which has been revised and modernized for the first time in 52 years.
The law aligns with Somalia’s state-building efforts, the emerging free market economy, and the protection of workers’ rights in accordance with Islamic teachings and international labor standards.
