Mogadishu July 13, 2023 (SD) – A meeting held in Mogadishu between the Federal Government of Somalia and the former and current federal politicians, chaired by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, discussed various issues concerning the country’s future, particularly the agreements reached by the National Reconciliation Forum.
Among the key points discussed were:
The electoral process in the country.
The system of governance in the country.
The system of multiple political parties.
The National Electoral Commission.
The inclusion of federal institutions and regional governments in the term extension.
The review and amendment of the Provisional Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Federal Government of Somalia, emphasizing the need to unite against extremists and celebrate the achievements made.
It also commended the government’s efforts in debt relief and the development of Somalia and urged the national army to effectively maintain security.
The meeting also addressed the progress of the Somali government’s efforts towards unity, particularly highlighting the importance of Puntland’s participation in the reconciliation process. It emphasized the significance of their involvement.
The recently concluded meeting in Mogadishu will be followed by subsequent gatherings to further discuss the country’s future prospects and address other important issues.
