MOGADISHO (SD) -Reports coming from the Lower Shabelle region confirm an airstrike targeting areas controlled by Al-Shabaab in the village of Haawaay. The airstrike reportedly targeted the leadership of the al-Shabab and caused damage to their positions.
The attack reportedly targeted Al-Shabaab members, with several high-ranking individuals, including a commander named Mucaad. The exact extent of the damage and casualties is not yet clear.
There has been no official statement from either the militant group or the federal government regarding the recent airstrikes in Lower Shabelle.
The situation in the region remains tense, and skirmishes between Al-Shabaab and government forces, including airstrikes, are not uncommon.
