Mogadishu (SD) – Al-Shabab, who earlier claimed that the Coronavirus had been sent to punished the disbelievers, unexpectedly appointed a COVID-19 prevention committee.

According to al-Shabaab’s statement, the committee, comprising doctors, clerics and intellectuals, was are tasked with monitoring the health issues in the country.

“In light of the increasing health concerns in the world, especially with COVID-19 virus, which has killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world, caused Al Shaba to talk about the effects of the virus in East Africa” said the statement.

They said that on the account of their responsibility, for safeguarding the healthcare of Muslims, appointed the Coronavirus Disease Monitoring Committee.

In their statement, “Al-Shabaab’s Coronavirus Monitoring Committee will begin working on the date of their announcement.”
