Somalia and Djibouti discuss ATMIS transition

DJIBOUTI (SD)-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia and his delegation were warmly welcomed in Djibouti City by Djibouti’s Prime Minister Abdulkadir Kamil Mohamed and other government officials.

Today, President Mohamud will meet with President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti to discuss strengthening the historic brotherly relations between the two countries, focusing on cooperation and issues of mutual importance.

President Mohamud is on a working tour of Somalia’s security partner countries in the region. During this tour, he has already visited Uganda and Burundi, which have troops in Somalia. He signed several agreements in these countries, some of which were shared with the media.

In Kampala and Bujumbura, President Mohamud’s visits were in response to invitations from the respective presidents. The discussions centered on ongoing operations in Somalia, particularly the transition of responsibilities to the forces replacing the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
