Baidoa May 19, 2023 (SD) – Clashes erupted today between Ethiopian government forces, who are part of the ATMIS forces, which is stationed in the regions of Southwestern Gedo, and members of the Al-Shabaab group in the district of Wajid in Bakool region, resulting in significant casualties.
The fighting ensued after Al-Shabaab militants attacked an Ethiopian military base in Waajid, leading to an intense battle that lasted for several hours.
According to reports, both sides suffered heavy losses, and Ethiopian forces responded with airstrikes targeting the outskirts of Wajid and surrounding areas.
