Somalia joins the Arab Economic Council

Jeddah May 19, 2023 (SD) – The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hisham Zaaki, in an interview with Middle East and North Africa (MENA) news agencies, revealed that the upcoming Arab Summit in Jeddah will address several crucial issues, including the Palestinian political situation, the ongoing conflict in Sudan, recent developments in Somalia, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Arab relations with African countries, and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) dispute.

Furthermore, the Secretary-General of the Arab League highlighted that the 32nd Arab Summit will also present the previously adopted resolutions of the Arab Economic and Social Council and the Arab Ministerial Council for Water Resources and Environment for the years 2023 to 2033.

The Arab Summit agenda includes:

The endorsement of Somalia’s accession to the Arab League as an observer in the Arab Economic Council.

Providing support and knowledge transfer to the countries participating in the Arab Economic Council.

President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, will participate in the Summit, sharing Somalia’s current situation and the achievements made in terms of governance, the fight against Al-Shabaab, and other pertinent issues.
