Mogadishu (SD) – A large-scale event was held in Mogadishu today to mark International Women’s Day March 08.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Women and Acting Minister, Deputy Minister of Education of the Somali government, members of both houses of the Somali parliament, women’s organizations campaigning for the 30% quota for women and other dignitaries.
This year’s theme for March 8th is that women leaders must achieve a more equitable future as the world fights COVID-19.
Officials attending International Women’s Day on March 8 congratulated Somali women and stressed the need to protect the 30% quota for women in the federal parliament, as well as raising awareness of the coronavirus epidemic.
