Somalia’s Presidential Candidates: troops diverted from the war with Al-Shabaab

Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali Council of Presidential Candidates has written to some international organization and foreign ministers addressing the difficult situation and political stalemate in the country.

The 15 member council of candidates addressed their concern letter to the US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, African Union Commissioner Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Secretary of State for Islamic Cooperation Dr. Yousef Bin Ahmad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Othaimeen and Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul-Gheit.

The Union of Candidates informed these organizations and countries to which the letter was sent to, that the troops they fund in Somalia had been diverted from the war with Al-Shabaab and are being used to suppress peaceful protesters.
