Janale (SD) – The African Union Mission troops in Somalia, AMISOM based in Janale, Lower Shabelle, have fired mortars at the outskirts of that town, according to local residence.
The AMISOM troops shelling has reportedly caused the deaths and injuries of civilians in that region.
AMISOM’s artillery targeting a village called Kali Asayle, the town is less than 2km outside of Janale city, were six civilians were killed, including a mother and her daughter.
The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) is said to have shelled the city as Al-Shabaab members were speaking in public to Kali Asayle residents after arriving there this morning.
Both the Somali government and AMISOM have not yet commented on the attack on civilians, and it is not the first time AMISOM is accused of targeting civilians in Somalia.
