MOGADISHU (SD) – At least 96 new coronavirus infections were recorded in Somalia after 1,943 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
The ministry of health said a total of 17,726 cases have been confirmed since mid-March when the country recorded its first case.
According to data published by the ministry of health, the country’s death toll stands at 997 as five new fatalities were registered in the period.
Of the new cases, 47 were female while 49 were male.
Some 59 people recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of successful recoveries to 8,663.
The ministry confirmed that Somali capital had recorded 21. Somaliland and Puntland each recorded 31 and 27 cases respectively.
Galmudug, Jubbaland and Southwest states have registered 13, 3 and 1 cases each respectively.
