Somalia: COVID-19 Update

Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali Federal Minister of Health Fawzia Abikar Nur, announced today 65 new cases of COVID-19 infections by 5 different Member State in the country.

Southwestern Regional authorities confirmed 24 cases, Benadir Region announced 13 cases, Puntland State had 13 cases, Jubaland reported a single case, while the self declared independent Somaliland confirmed 14 COVID-19 cases.

Making the new total number of cases in the country 1,284, as 1 patient died, while 5 other patients recovered.

The minister emphasized the importance of prevention and vigilance in order to protect the community from the virus, and urged Somalis to unite in the fight against the spread of the virus.
