Somalia: Daesh leader’s wife sentenced to 8 years

Mogadishu January 30, 2023 (SD) – The First Degree Military Court in Somalia today sentenced the wife of the top leader of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group to a tough prison sentence.

The National Security Agency accused Fartun Abdirashid Hussein of having a professional relationship with Bilal Al Sudani, the media head of the Somali Daacish group.

She is married to the leader of Daacish, Abdikadir Muumin, and is accused of being involved in the group’s activities.

She was arrested at the end of November, underwent a lengthy investigation, and was charged with a crime by the Prosecution Office.

The military court completed the trial on January 17, 2023, and today sentenced her to 8 years in military prison.

This was confirmed by Xasan Cali Nuur Shuute, the Commander-in-Chief of the First Degree Military Court in Somalia.
