The U.S. warns citizens not to travel to Somalia

Washington January 31, 2023 (SD) – The U.S. State Department has issued a warning to American citizens not to travel to 19 countries, including Somalia, which is considered to be the most dangerous according to the State Department’s Travel Advisory.

The warning states that Somalia is plagued by crime, terrorism, insecurity, health issues, kidnapping, and piracy and that crimes like kidnapping and murder are common throughout the country, including in the regions of Puntland and Somalia.

The U.S. State Department’s Travel Advisory also notes that conflicts and wars are widespread in Somalia.

The report also stated that there are illegal roadblocks in Somalia, and warned of terrorism and kidnapping, as stated in the Travel Advisory for American citizens.
