Somalia: Election Agreement reached at Dhusamareb 3 conference

Dhusamareb (SD) – Leaders of the Somali Federal government and regional administrations meeting in Dhusamareb have reached an agreement on the country’s elections issues.

The communiqué is dated for the 19th of this month, and seemed it was prepared by the Technical Committee.

According to the agreed upon Constituent Assembly system, the constituencies will be expanded to four constituencies, and the number of voting delegates will be increased from 303 to 3, with each seat elected by 101 delegates.

The leaders also agreed to hold a multi-party election system.

The communiqué was signed by President Farmajo, the Presidents of Galmudug, Hirshabelle, South West and the Governor of Banadir, the Presidents of Puntland and Jubaland boycotted the Dhusamareb 3 conference.
