Somalia: Floods in Dolow displace residents

DOLOW-News from the district of Dolow in the Gedo region of southern Somalia indicates a dire situation following flooding caused by the Jubba River overflowing into the district’s neighborhoods.

Communities along the banks of the Jubba River in Doolow, which borders both the north and west, have experienced rising water levels in recent days, particularly after the river burst its banks, according to reports from residents.

Some of the inhabitants of the flood-affected neighborhoods have sought refuge in various parts of the town, while the floods have caused extensive damage to many homes.

Warnings had previously been issued about potential flooding and the risk of flash floods in the Gedo region of southern Somalia, which can adversely affect Somali communities.
