Mogadishu (SD) -A joint statement issued by some former leaders of Somalia has strongly criticized recent decisions made by the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
A statement released by a group of prominent politicians, including former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, former parliamentary leaders, and former Prime Ministers, expressed their deep concern that the current President of the Federal Government appeared to be making decisions that could jeopardize the country’s future.
These former leaders also emphasized that it is not acceptable for the President to unilaterally decide on the structure of the Executive Branch of the government, introducing a Presidential and a two-party system, claiming that the President had deviated from the agreement reached at the Decale Conference on July 11-12, 2023.
The former prominent leaders also called on President Hassan Sheikh to refrain from pursuing a divisive political agenda and work towards unifying the federal and regional governments of the country.
They urged him not to initiate any legal changes that could potentially undermine the stability and unity of Somalia.
