Mogadishu (SD) – Somalia’s Independent Electoral Commission opened a four-day conference in Mogadishu, for the members of the Commission, focusing on the achievements of the Commission during its tenure.
The Chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Halima Ismail, who attended the meeting, spoke at length about the Commission’s performance and the challenges it has faced during it’s tenure.
She pointed out that the Commission had done a good job of implementing its plans and that due to political constraints, much had not been possible.
The Chairperson also spoke about the importance of communications among the staff of the Commission which encouraged them to do more, and urged workers to redouble their efforts to serve their country as it is their duty.
Finally, Chairperson Halima expressed optimism that the 2021-2025 strategy will significantly increase the work of the commission and ensure that the country has a free and fair election.
