MOGADISHU (SD) – The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of Somalia has issued a stern warning to all local and international organizations operating in Somalia, prohibiting any cooperation or dealings with Al-Shabaab.
A statement from the Ministry emphasized that these organizations must not engage with, provide financial support to, or comply with any orders from Al-Shabaab. This warning comes amid reports suggesting that the group has started demanding extortion payments from some organizations.
The Ministry further declared that any organization found to have members affiliated with Al-Shabaab or Daesh, or acting as their representatives, will have its operating license immediately revoked and referred to security and judicial authorities for further action.
The Federal Government of Somalia had previously issued similar warnings, threatening severe consequences for anyone found collaborating or complying with Al-Shabaab’s directives.
