Somalia: Minister Abbas Saraji’s killer executed

Mogadishu October 22, 2022 (SD) – The Armed Forces of the Somali Government this morning executed Ahmed Abdullahi Abdi, who killed the Minister of General Affairs and Reconstruction of Somalia, Abbas Abdullahi Sheikh Siraji, in Mogadishu in May 2017.

The Court of Armed Forces of Somalia has already sentenced to death Ahmed Abdullahi Abdi who was found to have killed the minister of public works and reconstruction of the government of Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre, Abbas Abdullahi Sheikh Siraji.

Mohamud Siraji, the deceased’s brother, welcomed the execution of Ahmed Abdullahi Abdi, posting on Twitter “Justice has finally prevailed,”.

The late Abbas died on the 3rd of May 2017 when he was shot by the security guards of the then fired auditor general Dr. Nur Farah Jimale.

Abbas Siraji, who was 31 years old at the time, was also the youngest minister at the time, returned from the Dadaab refugee camp where he grew up.
