Dhusamareb (SD) – Reports from Dhusamareb town, the regional capital of Galmudug state in central Somalia say was hit by artillery tonight at the time when president of Somalia, the prime minister and some of the regional administrations are staying in the city tonight.
Witnesses in the city said about 10 shells were fired at the city, most of them around the entrance and at the airport.
It is not yet known the extend of the casualties caused by the shelling in the town, residents in Dhusamareb are unclear what to expect the next few days.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and Galmudug authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
Security in Galmudug has been deteriorating since the ouster of Ahlu Sunna, with airport being attacked by Al Shabaab few times.
The bombardment of Dhusamareb comes at a time when the Somali president, prime minister and some regional administration leaders are staying in the city attending a consultative meeting on the country’s election process.
